Each fall, the Douglas County and Metro Denver business community in collaboration with the Foundation hosts the 8th Grade Career Expo at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

Eighth grade students from across the district will meet industry professionals to develop an understanding of the cross-section of high demand jobs available to them in the future. More than 70 businesses will engage in interactive conversations with students as they transition into high school.

The 8th Grade Career Expo would not be possible without the financial support of our Sponsors. Learn more about sponsorship opportunities here, or contact Ashley Sommers at ashley.sommers@dcsdk12.org.

Local businesses and government partners come together to inspire students for their future.  Our participating employers have a unique opportunity to engage students through conversation and demonstration. Typically staffed by a small team of volunteers, each company prepares a booth in a zone clustered by industry. 5,000+ students will pass through over the course of the day. Click here for more information and to register.

Pay your booth fee with a credit card here.

Communication about your school's participation is coordinated through the counselors at each individual school. Have a question or looking for information on how to sign-up a homeschool student? Contact ashley.sommers@dcsdk12.org

volunteer

The success of this event is largely dependent on the dedicated volunteers who help with event logistics. There are two opportunities available:

THURSDAY, 11/1/18 (9am-noon): Help stuff 5,000 notepads with the booth map for student use at the Expo. Many hands make this a quick job! Then, help deliver packets to local schools.

WEDNESDAY, 11/7/18 (7:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:15 - 3:00 p.m.): Expo Day Volunteers! While your exact duty will be assigned upon arrival, you may find yourself helping with student entry or exit from the event, passing out water or lunch to our employers, or monitoring an exit door. Attire: casual and comfortable shoes.
